LAGOS ON FOOD DISCOUNT STARTING ON SUNDAY 17TH OF MARCH

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has ordered that food products at the “Ounje Eko” food markets be sold at a discount in all five divisions of Lagos starting on Sunday, March 17. A statement by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, on Friday, noted that the markets will offer Lagosians a 25% discount on staple food items like rice, beans, gari, bread, eggs, tomatoes, and pepper. The statement read, “In order to prevent sharp practices and ensure the foodstuff reaches a large number of Lagosians, a voucher system will be introduced as the pilot scheme kicks off. “Independent payment solution providers and food vendors have been identified and carefully selected to operate the process. They will also provide real-time data on the exercise for monitoring. For the purpose of transparency, prices of the items have also been listed. Babajide sanwo-olu said govt are ready for the reopening of school

  Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos state governor, has ordered the reopening of tertiary institutions in the state effective Monday, September 14. The governor announced this during a regular briefing on the state’s COVID-19 status on Saturday, August 29. During his address, the governor announced that primary and secondary schools are also tentatively scheduled to re-open from September 21. He explained that the decision to re-open schools in the state was based on indications that the pandemic has peaked in the state as the number of new cases continues to steadily decline. “THIS DECISION IS NOT CAST IN STONE AND IS SUBJECT TO REVIEW OF OUR ONGOING MODELLING AND WHAT PROCEDURE COMES OUT FROM THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH,” HE SAID. He further reiterated that restaurants are now permitted to open for in-dining services in the state, although they must continue to ensure spaces are only filled up to 50 percent capacity at all times.   Popular Nigerian singer, Davido shared his experience on how he was subjected to racism while in college in Alabama, United States. In an interview with Recording Academy, the organisers of the Grammy Awards, Davido said he was mocked for being black in the college filled with whites. Davido who also talked about hatred among blacks, added that this occurred when he was just 15-years-old.
